Lessons from My First Conference Talk

Giving my first conference talk was equal parts terrifying and rewarding. A few takeaways for anyone working up the nerve to submit a proposal.

Practice out loud, not in your head — they are completely different experiences. Cut your slides in half, then cut them again. And remember that the audience is rooting for you; nobody showed up hoping to watch you fail.
